Title: Order in Chaos Project Type: Meditation Site: Syracuse, New York Instructor: Taiwei Wang Year: 2021
The project is one of the five programs (Believe) that introduced to an abandoned
building near downtown Syracuse. Recognizing the disorder and confusion in the
abandoned building as an inspiration, the project used a suspended column system
to create a sequence in chaos. Inspired by an ancient Chinese poem called “Peach
Blossom Spring” which depicts a secluded heavenly place hidden in the mountains,
the space aims to create a meditation space for people who desires to escape from
overwhelming everyday life. A dark pathway with the main meditation space guided
by columns(chaos) and filtered light(hope/direction) to create a sense of loss, pause,
and sudden release.
